Cruz studied Fashion Design at CSDMM in Madrid, Spain, also achieved a scholarship to study abroad, under the Erasmus program, in Magyar Ipar Muvészeti Egyetem in Budapest, Hungary.
In 1999 formed and became an active member of the artistic collective Watashi Wa. While in Watashi Wa she produced the following fashion collections such as Working Class, Lego Ciudad, Miss Pérez...launched to the public and critic at Espacio Plataforma SIMM and Circuit Showroom. Collections published in specialized magazines and programs such as Vogue, Cosmopolitan, NEo2, Track Tracks, No solo Música, Radio3...
Watashi Wa obtained not just critics recognition, but also awards such as winners of the Fashion Contest at FIB 1999 and Certamen de Jóvenes Creadores de la Comunidad de Madrid.
Besides fashion, Watashi Wa took part in several performances and short films as stylists and wardrobe mistresses.
As a parallel individual activity Cruz took on several illustration projects collaborating with few artists. Also worked as a stylist and trend setter at a major Spanish department store for more than three years, learning all there is to learn about retail industry. Since fashion illustration is a main part in her life, she decided to move to NYC, and take classes at SVA, and finally focus entirely on her illustration career.
